Sujet: Almira Fawn! Fantastic singer/songwriter/musician. Jeu 13 Aoû - 5:05
First of all, a HUGE, HUGE, and even GIGANTIC thank you to Moorvis for introducing this young lady on another thread. I was even more impressed than him maybe, so I was moved to start a thread for her. Along with Marnee, I think she is one of those that stands out as something so special. Not just another good Girl Singer, but a true artist in the making and even already quite accomplished as such I think. So far, I know she plays guitar and harmonica quite well, sings quite good and doesn't just try to copy adult artists and doesn't overdo the vocals, but keeps it balanced just right. In other words, she is already finding her own voice and style at a young age as Marnee has. She also has written several songs. See the websites below for these songs. She wrote most of the songs and cowrote two. She also has a CD for sale on CD Baby, who have done a great job for me when I ordered Marnee and Amber Lily from them. I suggest looking over the links below and then looking at the posted videos. There is very well written information on her on both the main website and myspace. The only thing I cannot figure out is that all those songs she wrote that are on the websites are not videos on youtube yet. It is covers and that is what I will post here.
Some videos but not in any particular order of favorites or anything. I am almost out of time, so I will just post them all quickly without much comment for now.

Just to add to my comments. First of all, I want to mention again in case anyone missed it; do not go just by the videos I have posted here. For some reason, the videos posted so far are her covers. Please see her website for the complete playlist from her CD, which she wrote all the songs for except two, and I think on those two, she did some of the lyrics.
I have seen now just about all her videos. She has a few that are from when she was just a year or two younger. You can see her rapid growth as a musician and singer. She is another such as Marnee and Sarah Niemietz that I just feel has such an emotional/spiritual thing coming through their music and singing. They really feel the song. This girl has the music BORN in her, and not just learned. She was born to play and sing.
I have just sent my first letter to her/her mom/dad? to make comments and I did ask why the originals that Almira wrote which are on her CD are not posted as videos on youtube. I will post whatever I get back from them.
Did anyone notice how she creates her own percussion loop for the performance of Hotel California?
One more video for tonight. A Police song. This is from about a year ago.

If she make her onw music arrangements, that's amazing ! She's really mature, in music I mean. That's funny to see such a young girl like her being so adult in music.

Sorry, I have not been around so much this past 10 days or so. I hope to be here more now. Anyway, a HUGE, BIG, FAT THANKYOU! to Moorvis again.
I was so much hoping to hear/see an Almira original and here it is. It is also one of my top three favorites on her CD which I received last week. Actually, I think the CD version is just a little slower and a little bluesier on the vocals than this performance. This performance is maybe a bit more rockier. I loved that guitar solo at the end in this video. She really doesn't do enough of that kind of thing on the CD. More solos like you hear on this video would have been great. It is a simple production, but all originals except two, one of which she writes different lyrics for. She does nice harmonica on three of the songs also. Actually, she plays several instruments on her CD, including percussion and bass guitar, keyboards and more. Still not quite up to Marnee in guitar playing, but has a different style and is soooooooo good I think after seeing this solo especially. More as the week goes on. Thanks again Moorvis.

If you haven't seen this video get ready to be further amazed. It's an original song "Need To Realize" where she uses a looper to build up her "backing band" before she goes into the vocals. She even uses a slinky in the composition. Who would have ever thought of that?

I don't know about others, but if I keep a slinky in my hand, I usually start making sounds with it.
I already posted another original song from her. On her CD, she plays almost everything on it. She only had someone to play the kick drum, banjo and trumpet on some songs. I don't think the looper was used on the CD, at least not for most of the songs anyway. She can a play a lot of instruments!
You need to check out at least Chillax and Have You Ever Lost Something from the CD. You can listen to them on www.almirafwan.com .

Hey Harfis01, thanks for that video post. I have not been on Youtube or the forum so much the pasts week and I had not seen that one yet. I love it! At first, she just had videos of covers, which were great, but I was hoping for the originals to appear. I got her CD about a month ago and like it very much. My favorites are I Know, Need to Realize and Chillax. Chillax is probably a little too country for many of the non Americans here. Country is not the favorite around her for most, but I like it.
When Marnee(see her thread here) turns 13 soon, Almira will be the most talented preteen singer/songwriter/musician on the planet!
Thanks again!
Bobby

Almira Fawn is a dear little one from Lexington, Kentucky, USA. She's a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist who has just turned 12.
Here's a very lovely performance from when she was just 9.
And here's Almira with her guitar teacher, about 1 year ago.
