I discovered a beautiful and talented young French singer on You Tube named Melody. She was 12 in 1989 when she had a huge hit "Y a pas que les grands qui rêvent". She released 14 songs but quit recording in 1984. I have English translations for some of her songs. Here are some of her videos:

Yeah, I already talked about her on this thread. She reminds me my childhood... Well, I was more a teenager than a child but well... That's a lot of memories.

Have you removed "NOSPAM" on my mail address ? It's a protection against Internet bots. You can contact me on PM, it's easier.

You are right. Her early songs were her best. Mamie is my favorite. Very sad song, but very beautiful. If anyone is interested I can post translations for some of her songs.

I ALWAYS like translations into English. Well, what I mean is I always THINK I want to see the translation, but sometimes I guess I wind up disappointed.

On the window the rain streams The earth appears so beautiful to me I give this storm to the desert The eternal snow on Cairo I offer the gardens of Babylon To this boy for whom my heart shivers Don't grow too quickly, wait for me I know that one day, you will come to me
Grown-ups are not the only ones that have dreams Grown-ups are not the only ones that have feelings I would like him to embrace me on the lips not as a child Grown-ups are not the only ones that have dreams Grown-ups are not the only ones that have feelings Its like a childhood that's reaching its end In an ocean
He teaches me the names of the stars From the top of the cathedrals He plays the music of the hope His piano cries of ivory tears I feel the caress on my wrist Of the Brazilian bracelet he gave me By saying "when it will break Then your dream will be realized"
And I await you And I await you

That's pretty good. Quite poetic isn't it? Thank you for your work on that.

Yeah, sounds like she wants to grow up a little too fast! I found my favorite. It is a very sad song but so pretty. Pop a Prozac and read on. Thanks again to my friend Alan
Mamie (Grandma)
When she talks to us about her marriage There is on her face The smile of her young age She shows us Photos from the past She says that she wants to leave Because she doesn’t want to bother anyone anymore She recalls being so beautiful But now, in the cruel mirror She sees nothing anymore but an old woman I see her going away, so tired
Alone, in a corner of the living room In front of the television There are no more seasons In the news paper She doesn’t understand anything anymore She says that she’s waiting the end Some evening or morning She goes shopping Buying sweaters for the children She often walks In her very large garden I see her going away, so tired, grandma
She has nothing anymore No more friends of her age They are all gone on their own trip Therefore she loses her courage She is so soft I like kissing her skin But she doesn’t find words anymore Her strength have betrayed her I see her going away, so tired
She doesn’t dream anymore She doesn’t sleep that much either She says that she lived her life, That she can leave now, I see her going away, so tired, grandma
The video I posted above of this song seems to have have problems. Here is one I uploaded to You Tube. I thought in the first one that she was so beautiful. What is with her hair in this one???? (And that outfit!)

Yeah I Know. Hair and clothing styles change. I have to laugh at photos of me when I was young. What was I thinking? Paisley shirt, bell bottoms AND Beatles boots? The other video of Mamie above is working again. She is so pretty. Still looking for the translation of Chariot d'étoiles. It is very poetic.

I can´t imagine not liking a song/video by Melody from her 14 and under years. She still was/is good as a young adult, but I like everything she did as a kid. She is in her 30s now isn´t she?
Keep the tranlsations coming. I like that very much. Thanks!

I was JOKING!! I absolutely love Melody. She is still very cute in in this video! My point was I preferred the way she looked in the other video. Very classy. Melody is 32. I have a picture of her in her 30's I will post later. She is still very beautiful. Here are some Melody web sites that I posted on good links, but I will repeat them here. You can use Google to translate.

I think you maybe misunderstood. It doesn't bother me at all about the comments on her hair or looking better in certain videos over others. That's all cool. I was simply saying I like everything she did as a child singer. Some better than others, but I don't think she was capable of singing bad or looking ugly.
