Here are a few videos from Helmi Hollström. She took part in Talent in Finland and has appeared in a few musical theater productions. She has a few new videos on Youtube.

Helmi has a cute voice. I like the voice, but for me, the songs are just OK.

Yea Clearsky, I guess I was forgetting that you have been doing the Child Singer thing for some good time now, but just kind of new to the forum. I will keep that in mind from now on. Smile

That is a bit of a surprise Fangji! I just found these Girls today myself. They are so adoreable and I love their accents. I think they sing pretty decently also, but the trouble is that I have become spoiled since my early days on Youtube. I now always hope for quality all the way around and what these GirlSingers are missing is one of the most important things. The music!! They sing pretty much everything acapella. I would just LOVE these Girl Singers if they had good recordings and music videos and such that we often find these days. They deserve to have more money behind them in producing some quality product. Here's to hoping that will happen for them.  Smile

I was searching youtube for cute German child singers, because I wanted to know how German language sound when a cute child sings it, but I haven't really find anything of great quality and interesting to me except I think this video is cute, it has cute children in it, the boy signer's voice is also cute and I like the music. I knew the child singing in German should sound interesting. I think German is good for sad songs, because it has some sad feeling to it. And lately I've been also watching some German movies with children in lead role because I like the sound of it when especially children speak it. Maybe I can even say German is my most favorite language after English and Slavic languages.

Knorkator is funny!  Laughing

For all who don't understand German: The Boy is singing about their parents being loosers, who force them out of desperation and greed into show business and let them sing songs with weird lyrics while using the computer to make their poor singing sound ok.
 lol!

Too bad that I can't listen to funny german songs more than one or two times ...   Neutral

And beside that is German (in my not unbiased opinion) not only good for sad songs (whitch I also don't really like) but especially for ominous and intellectual / philosophic songs.

The Girl Singer in the second video you posted doesn't look like her voice.  Shocked
Voice sounds like a 9 or 10 year old and she looks 6 or so.

Sure am surprised or maybe even  Shocked  to hear a GirlSinger do a song by Dream Theater and then another by Tool.  Shocked again.

She does pretty good on those. Maybe a little stronger on the Tool song. Then there are all those other videos that she does many different styles. Sure is versatile! I am not really excited about the others on her channel only because the sound is so so. I guess I am more picky about that these days. There was lots of that in the first few years on Youtube, but now the average quality has gone up, so I need better to really like something.

I see she is learning guitar also. Good for her. Probably has a bright future and career in music.

girlsingerfan, yes, those videos on channel aren't really something special. I just like this girl and was glad to find anything. Here are now I just searched about her on youtube again and found four videos I didn't notice first that are of high quality and interesting songs. I think I should've been created a thread for Kala on this forum. Though she should be 13 or 14 years old by now I think.

HeyHey!  Very Happy Sam1989! I liked this Girl Singer before, but now you posted what are my two favorites by her. I LOVE that one shot on 8mm and has the old footage look. She's is great on that and I just like that something different was done for the production. She sounds so good on that one.

Then there is the Chain of Fools. She is so good on that, it really makes me want to hear more and more R&B from her. These young people are pretty good musicians too. I did not like the mix so much (especially guitars) on that first one, but they play very well. Thanks for bringing my attention to this interesting GirlSinger.

My most favorite song in Estonian I posted on previous page of this thread and I still wonder what is translation of that song. And here another song in maybe most beautiful language in the world that is Estonian. Actually you can find a lot of videos of kids singing in Estonian if search on youtube "laps laulab" it means "child sings". Smile

PostSubject: Re: MySpace and YouTube artists   Wed 11 Feb - 5:38

Did we really go from May of last year until now not posting in this thread? Remember that this forum started, let's see; maybe 8 years ago. Youtube was quite new and things were more limited on kidsingers. I think Rakugaki created this thread for child singers with amateur videos that did not have any professional recordings or CDs or whatever, that were trying to promote themselves on MySpace and Youtube and not long after it seems like Facebook got more popular than MySpace, but I think he meant it for that one too.

We probably could put a lot more of our posts in this thread instead of creating a new thread for so many new ones we find. I have always said I think it is better to create threads for specific singers or groups if they are really special to you and are young enough or busy enough on making videos to make a specific thread worth it. If they do not fit that description, then there are many other more general threads to post in, such as this one.  Smile

girlsingerfan, okay sorry I will remember, I just forgot about the rules for a moment. And by the way I think you should specify exact how many videos should singer have in order to have her own thread. Smile

Here is cute performance from Naty posted recently

Hey Sam1989! I am sorry. I was not on the forum for something like 2 weeks and now I have so much to see and post on.
First of all for your question. I don't have any number in mind or even hard rules for starting a specific thread. I just think it gets to be too much if many people started a new thread for every singer they find. Just think how many threads there would be. It is already so hard to remember them all. As someone who helped launch this forum many years ago, my thoughts and suggestions for whether to start a thread are this.

Not just any singer you like, but someone you consider to be very special in your mind and heart.
Someone that is either young enough to have high hopes for a good amount of videos (let's say at least 5) to post in the thread eventually, or if the singer is already almost a teen or a teen, then a singer that has several videos to post from their younger days. Then of course we have the 'theme' threads, but so many of those exist already that it is maybe harder and harder to create good ones now.

Good to see Naty Hrychová again. I don't love the sound so much, but she is pretty good live too. I love her music videos for Downtown, Skyfall and Hallelujah.
