Glad you like the topic Cosmo.
Fantastic find Rakugaki on Beyonce. I did not know that one. I knew she sang as a kid, but I had not seen that one. I am talking about the first one that is not embedded. Great job! Thanks.

As I was checking out a link that Rakugaki gave in the good links section, I found this on Nikka Costa who was posted earlier in this thread. It has some wma song downloads she recorded when she was a preteen.

Well, since this is the only place I know that he appears on this forum, we can start a discussion of Michael Jackson, who just died today. What a shock this was. I don't want to be too lengthy, but I just want to say that I try to think of Michael as the amazing talent he was before his weirdness got the best of him and he altered his appearance to be unrecognizable from his younger days.

It is a fact that many talented or especially extremely talented people have a tendency to some craziness. With Micheal, the combination of amazing talent, a childhood of extremes of abuse and adulation, to the acclaim of world's number one star just took its' toll on him. Even though I am the Girl Singer Fan, I must say that Michael could very well have been the best child singer of all time. I am starting this with a couple videos for now. Maybe some others here would like to put a favorite. Since this thread is about going from Child Singer to Adult Singer, you can post any favorite of his that you want.

When I read your post in the morning, I can't believe that. Michael Jackson, the greatest singer of all times, is dead.
I cried today, a lot. It's really a shock. He did probably the best albums of my youth.
It's really a sad day for music.
Very Bad

Wow, what a news. I first read this in the morning and had to check what the heck you were talking about. But I suppose it's true. I didn't reply then because I didn't know what to say. I still don't know. I don't know a lot of his kid star career, but later on he did some great music. But he seemed to have troubles with himself that finally became too much for him.

Well Moorvis, if you or anyone else here have an interest in more of his childhood singing days, check the videos I posted above and these also. It will give you a good idea of what he was like.

Sync vocal track not quite right on this one, but it probably isn't truly live anyway.

MJ is such a natural born performer.
Every time I watch the films of Jackson 5, I realize how talented he is since the young age. The way he moves and sings always catch my eyes deeply.
He was so lovable as a little singer, I think he has a charm to let people like him.

I know this is not the place to talk about but as you talk about Michael Jackson that I needed to put this video Shaheen Jafargholi pays tribute to Michael Jackson singing the song that made known to the Ed Sullivan Show that 'you could see when the tribute of this man.

Well, that's not exactly Mickael Jackson, but a cover by a french group called "United Planet" (from "Les Petits Ecoliers Chantants de Bondy"). They are singing the song "Change le monde", a cover of "Heal the world".

I came over this video on youtube yesterday

Kine Ludvigsen was a very succesful child singer in Norway during the 90s. Here she was 9, I owned that album and I remember liking it quite a lot.
She released a CD in 2005 too when she was 22.

PostSubject: Re: Singers: From Child to Adult   Thu 10 Dec - 3:12

I found another really good one by Christina Aguilera, who is for me one of the best female voices of all time. I also think she was one of the very best child singers of all time. I know some here don't like the more adult sounding child singers, but you have to admit, she was a fantastic singer. I am just about positive this is live. She is flawless.

Now let's go way, way back. I had not put Brenda Lee here before. This is just for those that don't mind real old, oldies. This video has many clips of different performances as she goes from child singer to teen singer to adult singer.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brenda_Lee

Brenda had many U.S. hits on the charts in the 1960s. Here are her most famous two songs. One is a Christmas song. Good for this time of the year, yes! Very Happy

Christina's performance is very enjoyable. Do you know how old she is here? I'm pretty sure this is from the show Mickey Mouse Club so she could be from 12 to 14.

You have a point when you say that Christina had a very adult sounding voice, but you also have a point that she is/was an amazing singer so I really enjoyed the video.
Brenda was so cute in those first clips, and I think Little Miss Dynamite suited her Razz Thank you for "Rokin' around the Christmas tree"! Cool to hear the original Smile
